General Nail and Skin Care
Professional care for comfort, health, and mobility.
At Ian’s Podiatry, we are equipped with the right tools and expertise to safely cut and treat toenails, especially when they become thickened, curved, ingrown, or difficult to manage at home. We also provide effective care for those experiencing fungal nail infections or nail conditions caused by trauma, poor footwear, or systemic health issues.
Patients with diabetes often require routine podiatry appointments to monitor nail and skin health. Regular professional care helps reduce the risk of complications such as infections, ulcerations, and impaired wound healing.
Calluses and Corns
- A callus is a rough, scaly build-up of skin that develops in response to friction or pressure.
- A corn is a denser, hardened area of skin with a central core, often more painful and typically caused by concentrated pressure on one spot.
- Both conditions can be influenced by biomechanics (e.g. how you walk), poorly fitting footwear, or underlying medical conditions.
Calluses and corns are commonly found on the heels, balls of the feet, or toes, particularly during warmer months when open footwear causes additional friction or skin drying leading to painful cracks..
Treatment & Prevention
Our treatments are gentle, sterile, and effective, including:
- Safe debridement (removal) of hard skin and painful cores
- Padding and pressure offloading
- Footwear education and advice
- Custom orthotics and shoe inserts
- Ongoing management for recurrent issues
Your podiatrist may recommend protective toe devices, shoe modifications, or custom orthotics to provide lasting relief.
