Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a method of treatment that uses high-quality needles to relieve the discomfort by stimulating trigger points within the muscle system. They’re firm and tender nodules formed in muscles because of stress and tightness. They are found all over the body. These trigger points could be painful and can cause pain in other areas of the body.

Trigger points could cause muscles “switch off” or reduce the power of contraction. Dry Needling is similar to Acupuncture but is founded on different theories from traditional Chinese medicine. Dry Needling at trigger points has been shown to trigger a nerve reaction, causing muscles to relax, which may reduce discomfort.

The needles we employ are very smooth, and as a result, they don’t cause discomfort while inserting them. It is normal to feel a “local twitch response” when needles are placed into the trigger points, followed by a rapid muscle contraction. There is often an instant “cramping” type sensation observed.

By reducing trigger points, patients tend to move more efficiently and with less pain, making rehabilitation less difficult and more efficient.
