Footwear Assessment
Our feet transport us throughout the day. Walking, turning around to twist, leap or run, move and bend. Shoes are designed to protect from injury and help strengthen feet! Running may increase the stress on our feet, which could be as high as three times that of the weight of our bodies! So, a pair of shoes with the proper fit can protect you from injuries and excessive use, while poorly constructed or poorly fitted footwear could result in problems with feet and legs.
We will assess your shoes for various activities and provide advice on your specific needs. This can be at work, casual or even just for fun. We can recommend specific footwear for sports, such as netball boots for cricket, football, tennis, hockey, golf, lawn bowls and hiking. Gait analysis on the treadmill when running and walking in your athletic shoes may be useful in determining which shoes are best to wear for your foot injury.
Ian’s Podiatry Centre Podiatrists are specialists in providing advice to those living in our area on the right shoes for the requirements of their work, for example, shoes for work or farmers, and those who have to be working on their feet, like nurses or in retail.
Certain health conditions, such as diabetes or arthritis, might require special shoes, and we can offer advice tailored to your particular requirements. We’re trying to educate you to locate comfortable, supportive and well-fitting shoes that enable you to remain active and accomplish what you want to achieve in your daily life.
