What is orthotics? Toes?
Orthotics, also known as foot outhouses, are typically referred to as shoe inserts that aid with alignment and support or improve the performance of the leg and the foot. There are various outhouses, including semi-custom, custom, and custom-made (Off the Shelf) devices.
Your podiatrist will offer specific suggestions for you after completing a thorough examination taking into account your specific biomechanics, shoes, profession and lifestyle.
Once you have determined the need for orthotics, we’ll capture a photograph of the foot to determine whether they suit you. Our lab creates 3D orthotics made of paper, lighter than standard polypropylene models and with the same flexibility and more rebound.
They are rarely considered as a standalone treatment. They are typically prescribed as a part of one or all of the suggestions for shoes and stretching exercises, strengthening or stretching, and physical therapies such as foot Mobilization Therapy or Dry Needling.
There’s no reason to have each foot or lower leg injury that requires orthotics, but when needed, they are an effective treatment option that will reduce the strain and strain on the injured area. In addition, they can aid in reducing the severity of the injuries, and they can prevent the possibility of future repetition.
